What size dining table do I need?

Allow about 24 inches of table edge per seated person and at least 36 inches of clearance between the table and walls or furniture so chairs can pull out.

Round or rectangular table?

Round tables suit square rooms and smaller groups and make conversation easy; rectangular tables fit long rooms and seat more people.

How tall should dining chairs be?

Standard dining tables are about 28–30 inches high; look for chairs with a seat height around 17–19 inches, leaving roughly 10–12 inches between seat and tabletop.
